The Norway Working Holiday application is started and completed on the UDI online portal (selfservice.udi.no). There you create your account, the system takes you step by step to the right form, you pay the fee and download the checklist for the VFS appointment. It is in English and Norwegian; it is best to fill it in calmly and with exact passport details.
Application platform: UDI Application Portal (Norwegian Directorate of Immigration).
🪜 Step by step
1
Create your account on the portal
Go to
selfservice.udi.no and choose to create an account with your email and password (or with ID-porten if you have access). Write down your username and password: you will use them throughout the process and to track the status.
2
Start a new work / working holiday application
In 'My page', choose to start a new application. Answer that you want a residence permit for work and select the holiday and work (working holiday) category for young people from Argentina. The portal builds the appropriate form.
3
Personal details
Enter your full name EXACTLY as it appears in your passport, date of birth, sex, marital status and country of birth (Argentina). Any difference from the passport can delay or complicate the decision.
4
Passport details
Passport number, issuing country (Argentina), issue and expiry dates, exactly as in the document, with no extra spaces.
5
Contact details
Email and address in Argentina. Use an email you check often: this is where communication about the application and news from VFS will arrive.
6
Funds and work
Declare that you have the required funds (NOK 46,464 for three months) and/or a confirmed job offer. You then back this up with the bank certification at the appointment.
7
Health insurance
Accept the declaration that you will take out full health and hospital insurance before entering Norway. It is a mandatory requirement of the programme.
8
Review and submit
Check everything, especially your name and passport number (the most common mistakes), and submit the application.
9
Pay the fee (NOK 6,300)
Pay by credit card inside the portal. The application is only registered once the payment is confirmed. Keep the receipt.
10
Download the cover letter and book your VFS appointment
Download the document with the checklist generated by the portal, book an appointment with VFS Global Buenos Aires and bring everything on paper to the appointment to hand in your documents and give your biometrics.
⚠️ Common mistakes to avoid
- Entering a name or passport number that differs from the one in the document.
- Thinking the application has been submitted without having paid the NOK 6,300 fee: without payment there is no registered application.
- Not booking the VFS appointment, or turning up without the cover letter/checklist generated by the portal.
- Not proving the NOK 46,464 properly (incomplete statements, in another currency without a clear conversion, or in someone else's name without explanation).
- Applying when the quota of 300 is already closed instead of waiting for the January reopening.
- Forgetting to take out health and hospital insurance before entering Norway, despite having declared it.

🛡️ Getting sick far from home shouldn't cost you thousands of USD
Abroad, getting sick is more than a bad day. In many destinations public healthcare depends on appointments, queues and availability, and private care is paid upfront. An emergency can cost thousands of USD, right when you are far from home and on a tight budget. That is why I recommend you never leave without travel assistance.
I recommend GO! Assistance because it covers what matters: medical care, emergencies, medication and hospitalization depending on the plan. It protects you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, with real-time solutions on the ground. GO! 365 ECO and GO! 365 give you USD 45,000 of global coverage: the first with a USD 100 deductible, the second with none.
If you quote from Argentina, in October GO! also offers 12 interest-free instalments on selected products.

Remitly · Send money home in minutes, with low fees
When you work in another country, sooner or later you will want to send money home: to help your family, cover a bill or put your savings away. That is what I use Remitly for, and why I recommend it. It is very fast: it connects to any local account in your home country and the money arrives in minutes.
You can choose between different ways to send, depending on what suits you, and the fees are low. On top of that, my ambassador code AMB6M8 gets you USD 20 off your first transfer. It applies to transfers from the countries where Remitly operates, so check in the app whether the code works in yours before you send.
