The Austria process does NOT use an online application form: you book an appointment online at appointment.bmeia.gv.at and fill in the D visa form on paper to submit in person at the Embassy. Here is how to use the appointment system and how to fill in the D visa form without mistakes.

Application platform: Austrian Embassy appointment system (appointment.bmeia.gv.at) + paper D visa form.
Open the official form ↗

🪜 Step by step

1
Go to the appointment system
Open https://appointment.bmeia.gv.at in your browser. It is the official appointment system of the Austrian foreign ministry for all its embassies and consulates.
2
Choose the 'Buenos Aires' office
In the representation/office selector, find and select the Austrian Embassy in Buenos Aires. Do not choose another location: the Working Holiday for Argentines is processed only there.
3
Select the correct visa category
Choose the D visa / long-stay category (Working Holiday). If you are unsure which one it is, check the Embassy's website (Working Holiday Programm section) to see which category they indicate.
4
Book a date and time
Choose an available day and time. If no availability shows up, come back at another time: the Embassy releases appointments gradually. Note down the date and keep the appointment confirmation.
5
Download the D visa form
Download the D visa (national) application form from the Embassy's website. Fill it in on a computer or by hand in clear writing, in capital letters if required.
6
Enter your personal and passport details
First and last name EXACTLY as in your passport, date and place of birth, citizenship (Argentine), passport number and issue and expiry dates.
7
State the purpose and length of your trip
For the purpose of stay, state 'Working Holiday' / holiday and work, and the planned length (up to 12 months). Enter the estimated entry and exit dates.
8
Sign and bring everything in original and copy
Sign the form. Put together a folder with the form, passport, ICAO photo, criminal record check, insurance, funds and ticket, each in original plus one copy.
9
Show up on the day of your appointment
Arrive on time at the Embassy with the whole folder and the cash for the fee. The review and biometric data collection are done on the spot.

🧾 Form fields, one by one

First and last name (Surname / Given names)

Current citizenship
Argentina. If you hold another citizenship, mention it only if the form asks for it.
Passport number / issue / expiry

State 'Working Holiday' or holiday and work. Do not put just 'work': the main declared purpose is to holiday.
Planned duration of stay
Up to 12 months. Enter the estimated entry and exit dates, consistent with your ticket.
Means of subsistence
Tick that you have your own funds (the EUR 1,500) and that you have taken out health insurance; back it up with the attached documents.

🛡️ Getting sick far from home shouldn't cost you thousands of USD

Abroad, getting sick is more than a bad day. In many destinations public healthcare depends on appointments, queues and availability, and private care is paid upfront. An emergency can cost thousands of USD, right when you are far from home and on a tight budget. That is why I recommend you never leave without travel assistance.

I recommend GO! Assistance because it covers what matters: medical care, emergencies, medication and hospitalization depending on the plan. It protects you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, with real-time solutions on the ground. GO! 365 ECO and GO! 365 give you USD 45,000 of global coverage: the first with a USD 100 deductible, the second with none.

If you quote from Argentina, in October GO! also offers 12 interest-free instalments on selected products.

📶 Internet from the moment you land

I have never been left without internet on a trip. I land and my phone connects to the strongest network in the country I am visiting: I can let people know I arrived, sort out transport, book tours and keep posting content at a super affordable price (really cheap!). I always use the Maya Mobile eSIM, check out its plans by clicking the banner. See Maya Mobile plans →

Remitly · Send money home in minutes, with low fees

When you work in another country, sooner or later you will want to send money home: to help your family, cover a bill or put your savings away. That is what I use Remitly for, and why I recommend it. It is very fast: it connects to any local account in your home country and the money arrives in minutes.

You can choose between different ways to send, depending on what suits you, and the fees are low. On top of that, my ambassador code AMB6M8 gets you USD 20 off your first transfer. It applies to transfers from the countries where Remitly operates, so check in the app whether the code works in yours before you send.
