The process starts by filling in a National Visa (type D) form in e-konsulat, the Polish consulate's official system. It is NOT a visa that is resolved online: the form only generates the appointment and the reference number. The decision is made when you appear in person with your papers. The system has a time limit per session (about 1 hour), so have your details to hand before you start.
Application platform: e-konsulat (official system of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
🪜 Step by step
1
Go to e-konsulat.gov.pl
Open the official site e-konsulat.gov.pl. It is the only valid portal for booking the appointment; be wary of intermediary sites that charge fees.
2
Choose 'Visado Nacional – Registra el formulario'
In the menu look for the option 'Wiza Krajowa – Zarejestruj formularz' (National Visa – Register form). Do NOT choose the Schengen type C visa: the Working Holiday is a National Visa type D.
3
Select the country and the city
Choose 'Argentina' and then 'Buenos Aires' so that the appointment is assigned to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Poland in Buenos Aires.
4
Enter your personal and passport details
Enter your first name and surname EXACTLY as they appear in your passport, your date of birth, citizenship (Argentine) and passport details (number, issue date, expiry date). Any difference from the document can hold up the application.
5
Enter your travel and accommodation details
State your planned entry date, length of stay (up to 12 months), details of the accommodation you booked and the reason for travel.
6
Work purpose: choose 'other' and specify Working Holiday
In the travel purpose or work details section, select 'other' and state that you are applying for the Work and Holiday Programme (Working Holiday). This is the key point for the consulate to identify your application.
7
Declare your funds
Enter that you have the means of subsistence (return ticket and living expenses). You back it up later with bank documents at the appointment.
8
Choose the appointment date
The system shows you the available appointments at the consulate. Choose one and continue. Remember that allocation depends on availability and on the quota of 400.
9
Check, submit and print
Check EVERYTHING (name, passport, dates). Submit the form: the system generates a reference number and the appointment confirmation. Print it and bring it signed to the appointment together with the rest of your documents.
⚠️ Common mistakes to avoid
- Choosing the Schengen visa (type C) instead of the National Visa (type D): the Working Holiday is type D.
- Letting the session expire: the form is cancelled if you take more than ~1 hour, and you have to start again.
- Entering a name or passport number that differs from the one in the document.
- Not stating in the purpose field that this is the Work and Holiday Programme (by selecting 'other').
- Showing up without the printed and signed form confirmation.
- Bringing the criminal record check without an apostille, or insurance for less than EUR 30,000.

🛡️ Getting sick far from home shouldn't cost you thousands of USD
Abroad, getting sick is more than a bad day. In many destinations public healthcare depends on appointments, queues and availability, and private care is paid upfront. An emergency can cost thousands of USD, right when you are far from home and on a tight budget. That is why I recommend you never leave without travel assistance.
I recommend GO! Assistance because it covers what matters: medical care, emergencies, medication and hospitalization depending on the plan. It protects you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, with real-time solutions on the ground. GO! 365 ECO and GO! 365 give you USD 45,000 of global coverage: the first with a USD 100 deductible, the second with none.
If you quote from Argentina, in October GO! also offers 12 interest-free instalments on selected products.
