The Hungarian application is NOT 100% online. The only thing you do online is book the appointment in the official appointment system of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the residence permit application form is filled in by hand (blue pen) and submitted in person at the consulate in Buenos Aires. Here is how to book the appointment and how to fill in the form without mistakes.

Application platform: Hungarian consular appointment system (KonzInfo Időpontfoglalás) + in-person residence permit form.
Open the official form ↗

🪜 Step by step

1
Go to the appointment system
Open konzinfoidopont.mfa.gov.hu (KonzInfo Időpontfoglalás), the official appointment system of the Hungarian foreign ministry. At the top right, switch the language to Spanish so you can read everything clearly.
2
Choose the location: Buenos Aires
Select the Hungarian representation in Buenos Aires (Consulate / Consular Section). This is where you will submit everything in person.
3
Choose the right type of matter
For the type of application, select 'Visa application – residence application for more than 90 days'. This is the category that corresponds to the Working Holiday (long stay), not a short tourist visa.
4
Enter your personal details
Fill in your first name and surname EXACTLY as they appear in your passport, date of birth, passport number, e-mail and phone number. Use an e-mail you check often: that is where they confirm the appointment.
5
Choose a date and time
Select an available date. Remember the margin: you have to submit the application no later than about 90 days before your planned travel date. Note down and save the appointment confirmation.
6
Download and fill in the residence form
Get the official residence permit application form (the consulate tells you which one). Fill it in in block letters, with a blue pen, with no crossings-out. All details must match your passport.
7
Prepare the motivation letter
Write a short letter making it clear that the main purpose of the trip is holiday/tourism and that work will only be to fund your stay. It is a key document that the consulate reviews.
8
Organise your file (original + copy)
Put together a file with each document in original and copy: passport, photos, 3-month bank statement, insurance (min. EUR 30,000), ticket reservation, accommodation and criminal record check. A missing document can make you lose your appointment.
9
Go to the consulate and sign
On the day of your appointment, take everything to Suipacha 1111, 9th floor. Sign the form only when the official tells you to, and pay the fee by transfer.
10
Track the status and exchange on arrival
The decision takes between 15 and 75 days. Once the visa is approved and stamped, when you arrive in Hungary you have 30 days to exchange it for the residence permit (Pink Card) at the immigration authority.

🧾 Form fields, one by one

Type of matter / application

Consular location
Hungary in Buenos Aires (Consular Section, Suipacha 1111, 9th floor, CABA).
Surname / First names
Exactly as they appear in your passport. Respect accents and order. Any difference from the passport delays the application.

Purpose of stay
Working Holiday / Work and Holiday. In the motivation letter you state that the main purpose is tourism and that work is to fund yourself.
Address in Hungary / accommodation

Planned duration
Up to 12 months. The start date must be consistent with the appointment (no more than ~90 days from submission).

🛡️ Getting sick far from home shouldn't cost you thousands of USD

Abroad, getting sick is more than a bad day. In many destinations public healthcare depends on appointments, queues and availability, and private care is paid upfront. An emergency can cost thousands of USD, right when you are far from home and on a tight budget. That is why I recommend you never leave without travel assistance.

I recommend GO! Assistance because it covers what matters: medical care, emergencies, medication and hospitalization depending on the plan. It protects you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, with real-time solutions on the ground. GO! 365 ECO and GO! 365 give you USD 45,000 of global coverage: the first with a USD 100 deductible, the second with none.

If you quote from Argentina, in October GO! also offers 12 interest-free instalments on selected products.
